Why this is essential
Badger does not keep asking your till what is happening: it is Lightspeed that tells Badger each time a sale opens, changes or closes. These messages are called realtime notifications.
Until notifications are turned on for your business location, the Badger window works normally but no sale that is cashed out gives any points. It is the most common cause of an "it doesn't work" after an installation that is otherwise correct.
Two possible cases
Badger first tries to do everything on its own, from your dashboard.
If your Lightspeed integration has the necessary rights, this is turned on automatically and you have nothing to send. Go straight to the check at the bottom of the page.
If Lightspeed refuses — which is common, the API concerned is not open to every integration — your dashboard tells you the activation has to be done by hand, and shows the values to use. That is where the message below comes in.
The message to send to Lightspeed support
Copy the text below into your request to Lightspeed support. It is in English, the working language of K-Series support; send it as it is.
Only one thing to fill in: your businessLocationId, the identifier of your business location in Lightspeed. It is shown in the Lightspeed panel of your Badger dashboard, next to the linked business location.
Subject: Enable realtime notifications for our business location (Badger loyalty)
Hello,
We use Badger (getbadger.ch) as our loyalty programme, integrated with our Lightspeed K-Series account. Please enable realtime notifications for our business location, so that Badger is informed when a sale is closed.
Business location ID: [businessLocationId]
Endpoint to notify:
Content-Type: application/json
Notification types required (account realtime notifications): OPEN, UPDATE and CLOSE.
If an explicit event subscription is required on your side, please subscribe this location to the order DELIVERED event. Payment SUCCESS and Account CLOSED are sent automatically to subscribed locations.
No particular authentication is required on the endpoint. It accepts POST requests and answers 200 OK.
Thank you.
If Lightspeed support asks you to add credentials (username and password) on the URL, do not make them up: they are generated by Badger and shown in the Lightspeed panel of your dashboard. Contact us and we will pass them on to you.
Test environment
If Badger has set you up on a test environment before you go live, the URL is not the one above: use the one the Badger team gave you. A notification sent to the wrong address is never processed.
